MLC School is an Independent, non-selective, Uniting Church school for girls from Pre Kindergarten to Year 12 in the Inner West of Sydney. Our rigorous approach challenges students to be fearless thinkers with the courage to grasp innovation, take measured risks and make a difference in their own lives and the lives of others.
At MLC School we embrace every girl’s individual characteristics and are proud of the culturally diverse population they form. Our graduates are prepared for a life of learning: empowered with a fundamental optimism, multiple perspectives and a questioning mind-set.
– Pursue excellence
– Demonstrate integrity
– Celebrate diversity
– Embrace world citizenship
– Live with humility
Learning in the Junior School is undertaken in collaboration and across curriculums. Students learn to question their assumptions, communicate effectively and develop a detailed, rigorous thinking style. A focus on immersive educational experiences and a thoughtful approach to teaching wellbeing and conflict resolution lay the foundation for educational and life success.
The Senior School is made up of students from Years 6 to 12. Our curriculum covers the BOSTES prerequisites for girls from Year 6 – 10 under the MYP framework. Students in Years 11 and 12 have a choice of academic pathways to suit their individual learning style and academic preferences. Both the NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC) and the International Baccalaureate (IB) offer excellent opportunities, whether a student prefers to specialise in one academic area or take a more generalist approach. Detailed, personalised careers advice ensures that each girl is well prepared for her chosen course and field.
MLC School’s culture of success produces academic results that are remarkable for a nonselective school. 52% of the 2014 Year 12 cohort achieved a combined ATAR over 90 in the HSC and IB. 37.4% achieved an ATAR over 95. Three of our IB students achieved a perfect score of 45 (equating to an ATAR of 99.95) and five achieved a score of 44 (equating to an ATAR of 99.85).
MLC School students are encouraged to think and act like leaders from the time they join the School and opportunities to lead abound. On average 90% of the Year 12 cohort elects to take on the office of Prefect. It is a testament to a schooling that has pushed them to embrace responsibility and be agents of change in their own lives and the lives of others.
