Welcome to Bass High School

For over 40 years, Bass High School has been meeting the needs of the local community by promoting academic achievement, personal fulfilment and sporting prowess.

We are a caring, enthusiastic and innovative learning environment. With excellent learning facilities, dedicated staff and quality programs your child will be open to challenging, rewarding experiences that will see them develop into active citizens.

We enjoy extensive facilities catering to students curriculum and extra curricular needs. Most recently, our school has seen the construction of well resourced Junior and Senior Learning Centres which are located in the school's Library. Also, a brand new Performing Arts Centre and Gymnasium have been added to our school as well as complete upgrades to our Science Laboratories which have proved to be valuable assets to the learning needs of our students.

Leadership Encouraged

Students don't have to be school captains or house captains to be considered leaders.

We encourage our students to be leaders in the classroom and playground, through their support for other students, or their involvement in academic, sporting, cultural or community events and projects.

Students are also involved in the government of the school through the elected Student Representative Council.

Individual Learning

We monitor each student's progress and provide additional learning support if this is required.

Our school uses learning programs and specialised staff where needed and we work in partnership with parents and carers to assist students who have special learning needs.

Gifted students are those whose potential is distinctly above average in one or more of the following areas of ability at school - intellectual, creative, social and physical.

Our gifted and talented program provides students with learning opportunities on top of the normal curriculum.

Extra Curricular Activities

The competitive arena awaits students with the chance to excel in public speaking, debating, web design, student newspapers, environmental management and much more.

Students can unleash their creative flair through dance and drama performances, competitions, exhibitions and enrichment programs.

Students with particular interests and talents can participate in local and state-wide activities in visual arts, music, dance and drama.

Our Community

The 630 students reflect the diversity of cultural backgrounds which make up modern Australian society. Students are actively encouraged to take pride in their family's culture and heritage and to take an active part in building Australia's identity and future.

Parents and members of the local community are encouraged and welcomed by the school in its decision making processes.

The School Council has a leading role in discussing educational issues affecting the school and in making decisions which determine the way the school operates and the culture it develops.
