Welcome

Ormiston College is an independent, co-educational, non-denominational Christian school in the heart of Redland City, seeking to achieve academic excellence.

We aim to nurture and encourage enthusiasm for and commitment to the pursuit of lifelong learning.

The College is committed to providing holistic, integrated educational programs which develop problem solving, decision making, critical and creative thinking skills to enable students to participate as confident and contributing members of society, capable of meeting the demands of a technologically advanced and rapidly changing world.

Our Teaching and Learning Framework

Ormiston College is built around its students. We celebrate individuality and provide an education that plays to each child’s unique strengths. The development of confidence and self-esteem underpins everything we do, and our support and guidance help build the foundations for success balanced with honesty, kindness, faith and courage.

We have won many awards for our innovative approach to learning and consistently rank in the top 10 for NAPLAN and graduate outcomes. Our Teaching and Learning Framework supports our team in delivering the best educational outcomes for all our learners and aims to create a strong foundation with an emphasis on Literacy and Numeracy skills, while at the same time, providing the blueprint and tools for our teachers to plan relevant and meaningful learning experiences where students are able to develop the competencies needed for a rapidly changing future.

Our track record is impressive, yet academic achievement tells only part of our story. As a non-denominational Christian school, we take pride in our supportive and inspiring community; a place that instils a sense of belonging and ignites a passion that will create the leaders of tomorrow.

Our Learning Environment and Facilities

Ormiston College embraces the natural environment and rich heritage of the Redland City Council Area. Our campus was created to nurture spirits as well as minds. Set on 67 acres, the landscape has been crafted to exude warmth and calmness, with lush green grounds, calming treescapes, tranquil places to sit and reflect, gentle pathways winding between classrooms and magnificent ovals providing the stage for our students’ sporting endeavours.

Our state-of the-art facilities include a Performing Arts Theatre accommodating a 700-seat auditorium, an indoor sports centre uniquely designed for a wide range of sporting events as well as functions and banquets, and the College’s Centre for Learning and Innovation (CLI), which is a cutting-edge 21st century facility in which our students and community connect, collaborate, innovate and learn.

Music, Drama & other Co-curricular activities

While strong academic performance is important, we believe an individual’s social skills and self-confidence are just as vital for success. As your child progresses through our college, an incredibly diverse and challenging range of co-curricular activities open up to them and we encourage students to take part in as many courses, cultural activities and sporting pursuits as possible.

Beyond the structured learning curriculum, our students can experience music, drama, debating, leadership programs and an extensive list of individual performance and team activities including aerobics, dance, The Duke of Edinburgh Award, chess and a whole range of clubs and societies.

Reaching Sporting Goals

At Ormiston College we encourage sport for its health and wellbeing benefits and, just as importantly, for the sheer joy of playing. Sport teaches students about working as a team to accomplish a common goal, helps develop respect for rules, and promotes the importance of both winning and losing graciously. From Year 1 to Year 12, students can take part in a wide range of popular sports such as rugby, athletics, sailing, basketball, soccer, cricket, softball, cross country, swimming, tennis, hockey, touch football, volleyball and netball.
