About Our School

Kingswood Primary School is a school of 535 students, with 38% of enrollments coming from outside our immediate neighbourhood area. The school is located in an attractive, quiet residential area, with impressive grounds and facilities. There is strong commitment from School Council and an active Parents Club raising funds and building community spirit.
The school’s educational philosophy is based around the concept of laying the ‘Foundations for Success’ and making a ‘Positive Difference’ to the lives of every student. To achieve this, it is important to discover the individual talents of each child, to put students in an environment where they want to learn and where they can discover their true passion. At Kingswood we infuse the Habits of Mind and Visible Thinking routines into the curriculum. Habits of Mind are dispositions that are skilfully and mindfully employed by intelligent people when confronted with problems. Put in another way, they are how successful people go about using their minds well.

Strong Values

Students, staff and parents uphold the school values:
1. We are here for the students
2. We are leaders in education
3. We thrive in a team culture
4. We are safe, friendly and organised
5. We engage our community
Visitors to the school often comment on how well-behaved and well-mannered our students are.

Excellence in Learning

The school uses Habits of Mind program, ‘Visible Thinking’ routines and the ‘Teaching for Understanding Framework’. Visible Thinking makes extensive use of learning routines that are ‘thinking rich’. These routines are simple structures, for example a set of questions or a short sequence of steps that can be used across various grade levels and content. They are short, easy-to-learn mini-strategies that extend and deepen students' thinking. The 16 Habits of Mind are embedded into the culture of thinking within the school. Students use these strategies and apply these dispositions to everyday learning.

Kingswood Primary School is committed to identifying gifted students through the Success For All Program, so that their individual needs may be appropriately met. A range of learning and teaching strategies are utilised in the provision of extension and enrichment programs.

Impressive Facilities

If you are looking for a school that is well resourced in technology, then Kingswood is well worth the visit.

Kingswood has the latest in technology such as laptops, Macbooks, iPads and interactive TV's in every classroom. We are also a Google Apps for Education school. Students learn to problem solve by engaging in robotics, coding and engineering as subjects at Kingswood.

The school has a purpose build kitchen classroom to run the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program. The kitchen garden provides healthy vegetables and fruits, these are placed on the harvest table for students to use during their cooking classes.

Our school grounds are outfitted with synthetic grass, the three play equipment's have soft fall grass, large covered sandpit for the students and two synthetic volleyball courts. Our gardens are well maintained and admired by all. The cubby house and fairy garden is a popular play space for our Preps and Year 1 students and the mini soccer field is a new addition to the junior playground.

Extra Curricular Activities

Children are given opportunities to participate in extracurricular programs including: keyboarding, guitar, drum & vocal lessons, chess club, rubik club, choir, dance, calisthenics, drama, computer coding, after school art classes, karate and sporting clinics.

We have an Arts Festival to celebrate and display the talents of our students in the Visual and Performing Arts. Every year we have a school concert to show case student talent.

Healthy Attitudes

The school promotes healthy eating by providing a healthy canteen menu.
