About Genazzano FCJ College

Genazzano FCJ College is a Catholic Day and Boarding School in Kew offering a co-educational Early Learning Centre and all-girls’ environment from Prep to Year 12. We confidently innovate and adapt to a changing world by allowing students to grow academically and personally, whether they be day, boarding or international students.

Nurtured in the Catholic faith and the principles of the Sisters, Faithful Companions of Jesus from 1889, Genazzano FCJ College is a school where young women learn to lead and inspire others, embrace life, and go confidently into the world. We engage with our local and global community with a positive and loving attitude, serving a higher purpose through our Catholic faith

An inclusive community, we celebrate diversity and deliver a balanced approach to learning and growth. Our tailored pedagogy recognises and embraces different thinking and learning; and equips students with the skills and knowledge to succeed in the global world we live in.

An award winning school, Genazzano has been recognised as an Innovative School by The Educator in 2019, 2020 and 2021 for the work of the Genazzano Institute of Learning & Brain Sciences. The Institute has established a position at the forefront of utilising neuroscientific research in school education to improve learning and teaching. The aim is to provide exceptional student and staff learning experiences by working with key partners to leverage advancements in the fields of neuroscience, education, psychology, environmental design, health and information technology.

Vision and Mission

We share in a future-oriented and distinctive learning culture guided by reflection, wisdom and service. We empower young women to transform the world with hope and care.

Genazzano FCJ College lives its vision through embracing the talents, potential and dignity of each person. We achieve this by:

- Appreciating the unique giftedness of each other
- Confidently innovating and adapting to embrace a changing world
- Engaging with others with a positive, loving attitude; and
- Energising ourselves through high expectations.

Our hope is that through God’s grace working in us all, each young person grows into their best self, with a zest for life and the generosity and confidence to use their talents and gifts in the service of others.

Learning and Teaching

Genazzano is a vibrant, energetic community that seeks to positively influence all aspects of a student’s development. At Genazzano, learning and wellbeing go hand in hand. We share in a future-oriented and distinctive learning culture guided by reflection, wisdom, and service. We empower young women to transform the world with faithfulness, courage and confidence.

We apply distinctive learning approaches based on cross disciplinary, student-centred thinking and a commitment to excellence. Our transformational learning experiences focus on soft skill acquisition, not just content; and our high-performance culture promotes independence, self-belief, and professional practice across the entire school.

Genazzano’s bespoke programs reflect student interest, nurture aspirations and ignite creativity, taking learners beyond the conventional classroom and curriculum. Teachers have dived into gamification, neuroscience, design and technologies, to create unique programs and microcredential courses with flexible learning and hybrid delivery options.

Boarding House

Victoria’s only Catholic all-girls’ boarding school, Genazzano’s Hopetoun Hall Boarding House in Camberwell accepts students from Year 7 upwards and offers a safe and welcoming community where girls are fully supported by staff and their peers.

Within Hopetoun Hall, boarders are involved in social activities, study routines and specific educational programs; as well as transition activities to welcome new girls early in the school year.

Student Wellbeing and Co-curricular

The College also offers a whole-school wellbeing program—GenSTAR, which is about developing resilience and life skills.

We also offer an extensive Co-curricular Program including over 130 activities in Years 5 to 12 for girls to add richness to their education. From the Brain Sciences Club to the Mini Vinnies groups that are working towards creating a better future, our co-curricular activities celebrate diversity and add richness to each student’s education. Activities are held before, during and after school, or on weekends.

The Co-curricular Program celebrates learning and performance and helps to establish strong friendships, a sense of belonging and promote a profound connectedness to the College community.
