St John's College, Woodlawn is a Catholic co-educational secondary College situated in a charming rural setting 5 km from Lismore. Our community respects and values the dignity of each member within a welcoming and friendly environment characterised by care and compassion. The students take pride in St John's College and display strong school spirit. We aim to equip our students with the necessary skills to allow them to take their place as independent, constructive, self-disciplined and compassionate members of community.

Our Curriculum

St John's College aims to provide a well-balanced educational curriculum in order to develop each student's spiritual, academic, cultural and sporting potential. The dedicated staff values the opportunity to teach in an ordered environment, with supportive and purposeful classrooms. Within the parameters set by the Board of Studies, the curriculum at St John's College is adapted to meet the differing backgrounds, needs and learning patterns of our students.

As of 2013, St John's College will boast a Leader of Pedagogy to model and promote high quality teaching practice and contemporary learning principles, focussing on improving student learning outcomes.

Identified gifted and talented students at St John's College are provided with an array of opportunities to explore their potential. Differentiation of the curriculum, acceleration opportunities, enrichment days and participation in external competitions are all features of College life. The Eagle Centre at St John's College provides resources and support, along with curriculum adjustment and Life Skills programs for our students with special needs.

Co-Curricular and enrichment programs

St John's College offers the chance for students to explore and share their abilities and interests through a range of activities that exist outside of the daily school routine. Our co-curricular program includes sporting pursuits, debating, Duke of Edinburgh Award, Social Justice Committee, environmental interests, community service activities, public speaking, debating, chess, journalism and media and outdoor education programs.

The College is also highly involved in Tournament of Minds, consistently competing at Regional, State and National levels. St John's College organises well supervised, enriching trips in Australia and overseas for students who wish to participate to destinations such as Italy and Cambodia, as well as the Eagle Expedition and South Passage.

Religious Identity

Religious education at St John's College is studied from Year 7 to Year 12 and offers your child the opportunity to explore their faith, making sense of their life and the world in which they live.

Faith building experiences such as regular prayer, Eucharistic and liturgical celebrations, retreats and reflection days are an integral part of the College's identity. Community service, social action and charity projects allow students at St John's College to make a difference to others lives and give expression to student's beliefs and faith.

St John's College boasts some fine facilities including leafy park areas, chapel, sporting ovals, specialist TAS and Creative Arts rooms, music tuition centre, library, swimming pool, sports centre with fully equipped gymnasium and indoor soccer/cricket areas, tennis and basketball courts, multi-media spaces, assembly hall, learning centres, large canteen with indoor seating and extensive Agriculture studies area.
