Canterbury Girls High School enjoys an ongoing trend of increasing HSC and NAPLAN results in the High Performance Bands, and of shifting students out of the lower end of the performance scale.

Years 7 and 8 have full-time Gifted and Talented and Performance (Extension) classes operating. Canterbury Girls is a safe and happy school which students love attending and where they remain connected throughout their years of schooling. The school promotes a deep level of respect for, and acceptance of, one another. Diversity is valued and supported through demonstrating and respecting difference, care and compassion, integrity, empathy, fairness and strong student discipline.
The school holds two significant formal awards ceremonies in the school year to recognise and encourage excellence. Academic achievement and school and community citizenship are recognised through these awards. There is also a Recognition Scheme which enables students to have their progress and participation acknowledged each year.
A high level of social support is afforded to every student. Students are provided with guidance, nurturing and mentoring. Canterbury Girls High School has two Counsellors, various personnel from community support agencies providing assistance to students, as well as an extremely caring teaching and support staff.
The school has a fully staffed Learning Centre for Senior Students which they attend during all non-timetabled periods to receive additional assistance with their learning.
Leadership opportunities are developed from early in the junior years through Student Representative Council, Metoring, Peer Support and White Ribbon programs, while civic participation is a strong component of the activities offered at Canterbury Girls High School. |

Canterbury Girls High School has a very broad range of subjects from which to choose; curriculum patterns are determined by student choice, and Years 7, 8 and 10 participate in subject selection programs each year.
Year 7 select one elective for study in Year 8, while Year 8 select two subjects for study in Years 9 and 10. Year 10 select six subjects for study in Years 11 and 12. These may include school based VET subjects Business Services and Hospitality, and a broad range of TAFE subjects at the nearby Sydney Institute of TAFE.
Aside from the core subjects, Canterbury Girls High School also offers different level subjects such as Maths Extension, English Extension, History Extension, all Science subjects, Greek, Chinese, French, Economics, Legal Studies, Information Technology, Business Studies, Textiles, Visual Arts, Music, Dance and Drama and many others. Open High School and Saturday School operate for students who wish to pursue Languages not offered by the school.
Stage 5 TAFE options are increasingly being undertaken by students in Years 9 and 10, giving many students a 'head start' with regard to the HSC and their post-school pathways. |

Canterbury Girls High School has a wide variety of Extra Curricular activities to develop students’ physical and intellectual abilities, to assist them to realise their personal potential, and to promote leadership.
These include:
•Performing Arts: Bands- Jazz, Rock, Concert, Choir, Dance Ensembles and Theatresports;
•Challenges: Debating competitions, Rostrum Youth Individual Speaking Competition, Mock United Nations Challenge, Australian Business Week, Premier’s Sporting Challenge, Public Speaking, Tournament of the Minds and National Competitions in Mathematics, Science and English;
•Leadership and Society: Duke of Edinburgh Program, Environmental Ambassador Program, Green Action Group, Wear it Purple and White Ribbon;
•Sports: Knockout Sport – Basketball, Lawn Bowls, Oz Tag, Soccer, Softball, Tennis, Touch Football, Hockey, Volleyball and Netball. |

Canterbury Girls High School welcomes international students, and have a highly supportive environment for students from other countries. There is an International Students Co-ordinator and teacher advisers to assist students at each year level.
