Welcome to The Cathedral School

Townsville’s only Independent Anglican School for boys and girls from Early Childhood (including kindergarten) to Year 12 and boarding students from Year 7 to 12.

At Cathedral, we are ‘educating for life-long success’. We know that this requires a well-rounded education – to develop the “whole person” by nurturing the body and spirit as well as the mind.

Early Learning Centre

Children from 6 weeks to Kindergarten are able to participate in age-appropriate programs under the watchful eye of professional and caring staff. With an emphasis on learning through play and positive social interactions with peers, children begin developing the framework for a life-long educational journey.

Prep & Junior School

Welcome to the Junior School at The Cathedral School of St Anne and St James, which caters for children from Prep to Year 6.
The Junior School strives to be a caring, Christian community in which children are challenged and inspired to explore, learn and grow so they will be equipped to make wise decisions as informed members of society.

We offer a strong focus on developing literacy, numeracy and ICT skills as well as a curriculum that is personalised to cater to a variety of learning styles and needs.

Middle School

In the Middle School, the curriculum and pastoral care models are designed to meet the needs of students as they journey through the transitional years of adolescence. Our objective is to provide a positive, safe yet disciplined environment for these students from Years 7 to 9 to be academically challenged, and to provide each individual with the means and opportunities to grow emotionally, socially and spiritually.

Senior School

The Senior School experience represents the final and very important phase of a student’s education. Students of The Cathedral School are prepared for life-long learning through engaging classroom and broader community experiences and they are inspired by talented and professional teaching staff.
Teachers at The Cathedral School are dedicated to the pastoral care and educational well-being of every individual student.

Boarding

At The Cathedral School, we pride ourselves on the various levels of specifically designed structures we have in place to offer top-class academic, boarding and social support for your sons and daughters.

Boarding is a unique opportunity to live within and contribute to a strong community and provides, within a Christian environment, an opportunity for the development of character, self-discipline, leadership and initiative, whilst nurturing lifelong friendships.
