Australia's Premier Primary Coeducational Day and Boarding School is now offering Year 8 in 2014.

Toowoomba Anglican College and Preparatory School is delighted to now offer parents the same quality standard of education, for which Toowoomba Prep is renowned, in a caring and nurturing secondary environment. With a focus on smaller class sizes and greater one-on-one teacher/student interaction Toowoomba Anglican College and Preparatory School can provide an education to meet the needs of your child across all learning areas.

Curriculum

Toowoomba Anglican College and Preparatory School promotes moral growth and personal academic excellence in a setting that fosters a respect for learning and each other. We encourage independence and self-reliance in all of our students and provide the ideal preparation for the challenges and responsibilities of secondary school.

Our Values

Character

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit.
- Aristotle

Among the various definitions of the word 'character', Prep embraces two in particular...the aggregate of qualities that distinguishes one person from another and the moral constitution of a person or people.

Toowoomba Anglican College and Preparatory School honours each and every student as an individual and seek to foster and develop the qualities that make them such, yet at the same time this process operates within a framework of core values and beliefs that distinguish Prep students as a whole, from others.

This same framework also creates a moral constitution amongst our students that is found in such inviolate qualities as compassion, acceptance and responsibility.
The character of Prep students whether as individuals or as a community, is irreproachably unique and distinct.

Integrity

To thine own self be true, and it must follow, as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man.
- Shakespeare

The well-known saying; 'my word is my bond' neatly expresses the essence of the Prep view of what constitutes integrity.

As we strive to inculcate and nurture in our students such fundamental values as honesty, uprightness and morality, Toowoomba Anglican College and Preparatory School seeks to impress upon them the necessity to always match one’s deeds with one’s words. If integrity is to encompass a state of being truly whole, then it cannot be diminished or impaired by a conflict between what is said and what is done.

The principle is simple and yet it is one that we believe is readily grasped and accepted by the children entrusted to our care...a principle that becomes the hallmark of a Prep student and a moral compass in their journey through life.

Achievement

It is not your aptitude, but your attitude, that determines your altitude.
- Zig Ziglar

It is easy to merely set certain accepted benchmarks and measure 'achievement' by the degree of success or failure to reach them. However, we go beyond that simple concept at Prep.

While Toowoomba Anglican College and Preparatory School certainly has benchmarks in respect to academic, behavioural and ethical standards, Prep sees the individual humanity of our students and the fact that each one will have his or her own personal markers for what represents an achievement.

What might in another’s eyes seem like a small accomplishment may well be a profound milestone for the student who has arrived there.

As a consequence, we take the time to identify those things which represent achievement for a student and provide the sort of appropriate recognition they merit.

Validation of achievement, whatever it may constitute, becomes the motivating force that encourages our students to expand their horizons and reach towards the goal of realising their full potential.

Boarding

Toowoomba Anglican College and Preparatory School has provided an exceptional education for primary students for over one hundred years and our boarding is second to none. Our boarding community is smaller than many schools, providing an intimate, friendly and nurturing environment. The school coordinates a seven day a week program of activities for boarders ensuring balance between academic, sporting, cultural and spiritual pursuits.

Community

The Toowoomba Anglican College and Preparatory School community is very supportive and there are many ways in which parents may choose to become involved. These opportunities are as varied as assisting individual students with reading, providing support with makeup and costumes for school productions and coaching sporting teams.

There are three entities that support the work of Prep. The Foundation is a vital fund-raising dimension and its work involves the development of philanthropy to create bursaries, build facilities and fund educational initiatives.

The Past Students Association enables alumni to keep in touch with Toowoomba Anglican College and Preparatory School and with one another.

The Parents and Friends Association hosts a number of important events in the school calendar to develop the social dimension to the school community and to raise funds.
