Dulwich High School of Visual Arts and Design has a strong history of success in all academic areas as well as in the creative arts and design faculties. We take great pride in being creative, dynamic and innovative in all aspects of developing young people for the future.

The students of Dulwich High School of Visual Arts and Design have access to an extensive range of subjects, courses and pattern of study and are guided by professional and highly experienced teaching staff.

Dulwich High School of Visual Arts and Design is proud of the strong links established with the National Art School, The Design Centre Enmore, Sydney Institute of TAFE, University of NSW, Sydney, MCA and The Art Gallery of NSW.

Our teachers take a personal interest in each of their students. Students and their families benefit from a comprehensive support network which includes specialist counsellors, learning support teachers and gifted and talented programs.

Comprehensive Curriculum and Visual Arts

Dulwich High School of Visual Arts & Design delivers a high quality comprehensive education, as well as providing specialist visual arts and design courses. The school offers a wide range of academic subjects as well as Japanese, music and technology.

Our specialist Visual Arts courses develop skills in drawing, painting, graphics, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, digital media, photography and jewellery making.

Our aims in Visual Arts at Dulwich High School of Visual Arts and Design are to:
• help students acquire artistic skills and develop the talent that each of us has
• enable students to solve artistic problems with creative solutions
• build student’s self-esteem and discover the ability to create interesting images and objects
• understand and appreciate what other artists have produced throughout history.

Those students with a strong interest in visual arts also have the opportunity to develop advanced skills that will assist them especially if they wish to pursue a career in such fields as advertising, animation, art making, graphic design, book/magazine illustration, fashion or interior design, film, TV and stage set design, photography, architecture, sign writing, magazine layout and fine arts.

Career Training in School

Dulwich High School of Visual Arts and Design has a history of preparing students for university and other higher education. As well, we offer the opportunity to complete a training course at school which can lead to a career directly post school.

These VET (Vocational Education and Training) courses require our students to work 5 days each year in work placements. We work closely with industry bodies to design courses and train our teachers to deliver these courses of study with industry accreditation.

Dulwich High School of Visual Arts and Design currently offers the following courses for senior students:
• Retail
• Hospitality
• Construction
• Information Technology
• Business Services Administration.

Extra Curricular Activities

There is wide range of extra curricular activities at Dulwich High School of Visual Arts and Design, including many sports and a debating club, chess, dance, drama, musicals (bi-annually), School Spectacular performances (dependant on interest) and a Street Art Club.
