Welcome

Montague School is the only dedicated vocational special school in Victoria for students aged 15 to 18 with mild intellectual disability.

Together, we are shaping a future where all young people have the opportunity to achieve their dreams and reach their full potential.  Our school fosters a sense of belonging and community, where students can develop important social skills, form meaningful friendships, and build confidence in themselves.

We invite you to join us at Montague School and embark on a journey of growth, discovery, and achievement.

Inclusion and Belonging

At Montague School, inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that every individual, regardless of ability, deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed in a supportive and inclusive environment. Our commitment to inclusion is reflected in our school’s culture, policies, and practices.
We recognise and celebrate the unique strengths and talents of every student, fostering a sense of belonging and acceptance within our school community. We embrace diversity in all its forms and actively promote understanding, empathy, and inclusion among students, staff, and families.

Tailored Learning

Through personalised support, individualised learning plans, and a variety of educational and vocational opportunities, we ensure that each student receives the tailored assistance they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
We strive to create a welcoming and accessible space where all students feel valued, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Curriculum

Our uniqueness lies in our tailored approach to education, where every aspect of our curriculum is designed with the individual needs and abilities of our students in mind. From personalised learning plans to hands-on vocational training, we ensure that each student receives the support and resources they need to thrive.

Montague School specialises in teaching the Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC). The VPC is an inclusive Year 11 and 12 standards-based certificate that meets the needs of a smaller number of students who are not able or ready to complete the VCE (including the VCE Vocational Major).

Vocational Education and Training (VET) is an important part of many students’ senior secondary education. Students are able to undertake VET as part of the Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC). Our school’s VET and Pathways Coordinator can help students find a suitable VET program on enrolment.

Beyond the Classroom

At Montague School, we understand that success extends beyond the classroom. That’s why we offer comprehensive support services aimed at fostering independence, building confidence, and preparing students for meaningful participation in their communities and the workforce.
We recognise the importance of providing students with valuable work experience opportunities to complement their academic learning and prepare them for the realities of the workforce. Work experience is an integral part of our educational program, designed to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence necessary for success in their future careers.
