Oakleigh Grammar has a strong commitment to academic achievement. Small class sizes and the provision of a learning journey from the Early Learning Centre, through the Middle Years into the Senior School ensure that every child is known personally.
At Oakleigh Grammar literacy and numeracy are especially important and each child’s learning needs are met through challenge for those who are talented and additional support for those who have areas of difficulty. Oakleigh Grammar is also ideally placed to implement the forthcoming Australian Curriculum K-10. |

At Oakleigh Grammar we are devoted to the needs of the individual child, aware that every individual has strengths and challenges. Through careful diagnosis and assessment we are able to identify those students who have gaps in their learning journey and require assistance to address any learning problems.
Similarly we are aware that every class has children who have academic gifts which deserve extension and higher order challenge. All children need to achieve at their optimum in order to remain engaged. |

Music
In the Early Learning Centre music is an integral part of the curriculum and the spontaneity of the very young is encouraged. In the Primary Years students participate in music activities as core subjects through listening, singing, playing and dancing. The Co-curricular program provides extension of the core, and children may join the Choir, take private instrumental lessons, and participate in bands, ensembles and orchestra.
Sport
Each student undertakes classes in health, physical education and sport as they journey through the School. There are opportunities for students to enjoy sports for recreation and pleasure and also for competition both within the School and in inter-school sports.
Performing and Visual Arts
Students participate in the Creative and Performing Arts throughout their life at the School. Either as part of the core curriculum, as elective subjects or as extra-curricular studies students are encouraged to experiment to discover their creative talents. The appreciation of artistic achievement is developed as participant and as spectator. |
