From our Principal

Peninsula is a highly regarded, warm and welcoming open entry school that truly aims to help each student achieve their potential.
Visit our campus and you will see for yourself how this translates into the daily activities of the School and the relationship between staff and students.
We celebrated our fiftieth anniversary in 2011. The School has grown extensively since 1961. It opened with 88 boys and now has 1440 girls and boys enrolled from Kindergarten to Year 12. The majority are day students but we also welcome boarders into our community.
We are justifiably proud of all that Peninsula has to offer and the well-rounded, well-educated, considerate and community-minded young people who constitute our past and present student body.
Stuart Johnston
Principal

Our Community

The Peninsula School's motto, Quod Bonum Tenete (Hold Fast That Which Is Good), embodies the importance placed on traditional values at Peninsula. We value a spiritual and moral view of life that prizes the highest standards of personal character with a Christian ethos of service and concern for others.
At the same time we proudly see ourselves at the forefront of contemporary education, developing the intellectual talents of our students and equipping them with the skills to contend with life's challenges.
Unsurpassed pastoral care, outstanding academic achievement and cultural enrichment are all part of the Peninsula experience. We aim to develop independent thinkers and learners who view learning as a skill for life. The science of Positive Psychology underpins our Wellbeing program.

The School with Spirit

Every school wants to believe that it offers something special, something just a little bit different from other schools. At Peninsula, we too believe that we have a certain spirit, more than just camaraderie, that exists within the School. It's a shared set of values and a sense of all working together that is hard to define in words.
We are not alone in this belief. Visitors to our School regularly comment on the congenial atmosphere on campus. This spirit encompasses all year levels and is the result of careful attention to a number of factors:
Peninsula follows sound Christian values. Whether or not families have religious affiliations, the results, as shown by the behaviour of our students, attest to the value of inculcating these ethics in the routines of school life.
Through our Positive Education program and our pastoral care and Tutor systems, our teachers enjoy a close relationship with their students. This knowledge gives them a solid appreciation of what each student needs educationally and socially.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is designed to maximise the educational opportunities of our diverse, fully co-educational, open-entry student population. The framework for our teaching and learning is detailed in our PASS (Peninsula Academic Skill Set) document, which was developed after exhaustive research into the latest teaching techniques and learning styles.
PASS organises our educational approach into four elements: an effective learning environment, effective design for learning, effective teacher strategies and effective learner behaviours. Our commitment to a broad, differentiated curriculum means different things at the different stages of a student's life at The Peninsula School. It can be learning through play in our Early Childhood Centre; the 'Have a Go' attitude in our Junior School; our innovative Pathways@9 program for pre-senior students; and the focus on VCE in the Senior School.

Why Peninsula?

Most parents cite a mix of the following as their reason for choosing Peninsula for their child:
It is a safe and welcoming co-educational environment.
Our focus on excellence, both academic and co-curricular.
Our focus on Positive Education which places high importance on the wellbeing of our students
High standards - our students are well-disciplined and respectful.
Our facilities are excellent - we opened our extensive new Performing Arts Centre in 2009 and our new Junior Gymnasium in early 2010.
Our teachers are experts in their fields.
Our students very much enjoy their school days and have a real sense of pride in their school.

Boarding

We welcome international students from all over the world to our School. Our students come from as far afield as China, Japan, Germany, France and elsewhere in Europe, South East Asia, the US and South America.
We can cater for 50 male and 20 female boarders, while other students choose Homestay.
Our international students become part of a vibrant and caring school community in which a broad range of interests are carefully catered for.
