The aim of the curriculum at Beechboro Christian School is to provide quality educational programmes built on the developmental learning needs of our students.
Our curriculum encourages students to be independent, creative thinkers who are engaged in their learning process. As a result, our NAPLAN results are above the national, state and similar schools average in many of the assessed areas.
Our curriculum is taught with a Christian worldview, supported by a Christian Education Framework. In addition, students learn directly from the Bible.
Literacy and numeracy are the keys to unlocking all future learning and are a primary focus at Beechboro Christian School. Our ‘back to basics’ approach, underpinned by solid educational research, results in students that are highly literate and numerate.
Our science, humanities and social science classes provide students with a rich understanding of nature, the modern world, its international features, and its social and cultural dynamics. It is our desire to instil an appreciation and sense of responsibility for our world in each Beechboro Christian School student.
And our Beechboro Christian School enriching Kindergarten Programs provide a flexible 3-day option and a convenient 5-day program tailored for busy working families.
Multilingualism is an increasingly required skill in today’s climate, and the mastery of second or third languages has been shown to have a significantly positive impact on brain development. With a richly international culture at BCS, we provide our students with the opportunity to explore the beauty of Mandarin Chinese, both written and spoken.
As Arts education has a vital role to play in the development of every child, a love of the arts is encouraged. The school has specialist teachers for Art and Music, as well as instrumental tutors for violin, piano, drums and guitar. Two choirs (junior and senior) regularly perform at the school and within the wider community. Other performance opportunities include school assemblies, our inter- school foreign language contest, Carols by Candlelight and Beechboro’s Got Talent.
By integrating technology into our curriculum, we open up new opportunities for engagement and interaction, making learning more dynamic and relevant. Students can explore virtual worlds, access a vast array of resources, and collaborate with peers globally, expanding their horizons.
The school environment plays a major role in the social and emotional competence and wellbeing of children. Pastoral care, reflecting God’s word as well as current educational and psychological best practice, is a vital and integral part of our offering.
Our school chaplain reflects the love of Christ with a focus on guiding, supporting, reconciling, nurturing, liberating, and empowering students. The chaplain administers to the behavioural needs of children and their families and provides appropriate strategies for students’ wellbeing.
Beechboro Christian School has implemented Australia’s leading social and emotional 'You Can Do It' learning program for student achievement. The program aims to identify the capabilities that all young people need to reach their academic potential in school, to experience wellbeing and create positive relationships with others.
At Beechboro Christian School we place high value on community. Our ability to create opportunities for authentic relationships and deep connections makes us unique.
With over 43 nations represented in our school, our annual Harmony Day is a feast for the senses as we celebrate the diverse cultures within our school community.
