Loreto College Coorparoo

Loreto College Coorparoo is one of Queensland’s leading Catholic secondary schools for girls, providing a comprehensive education from Years 7 to 12. We will welcome additional students and families to our school community through the introduction of Year 5 in 2025 and Year 6 in 2026. We will continue to offer a larger student intake in Year 7 2027 and beyond. The College was founded by the Loreto Sisters in 1928 and is one of seven Loreto schools across Australia. Loreto College belongs to a global network of more than 150 schools, established since 1609, in the Mary Ward tradition of excellence for girls in education.

The vision at Loreto College Coorparoo is to offer a Catholic education which liberates, empowers and motivates students to use their individual gifts with confidence, creativity and generosity in loving and responsible service. Our Teaching and Learning Framework, HEART, promotes a holistic education that balances the pursuits of academic excellence, pastoral care and wellbeing to ensure our students are motivated to contribute to society with confidence, creativity and compassion in the tradition of Mary Ward.

Mission & Ethos

Loreto College Coorparoo is committed to the realisation of Mary Ward’s vision that ‘women in time to come will do much’. A love of Jesus and dedication to the Gospel values underpin learning and community wellbeing. These inform all of our actions, guide our future direction and challenge us to be ‘seekers of truth and doers of justice’.

Inspired by the Mary Ward story, Loreto is a place where young women are inspired to find God’s presence in the ordinary; to seek to embrace each moment and to do so with grateful hearts. This requires the awareness of the simple, ordinary moments of life and to see the holiness that exists in all of life and creation. Mary Ward was independent of spirit, strong, tenacious and courageous in breaking new ground. The young women who are educated at Loreto are respectful, caring, resilient, socially responsible women with a sense of place in the world.

At Loreto Coorparoo, we believe that the dispositions of heart that result from love of self, others and all things are these:
FELICITY – to be people of joy, optimism, hope and laughter.
FREEDOM – to act out of love not fear; to be inwardly free to refer all things to God.
SINCERITY – to be such as we appear and appear such as we are.
VERITY – to seek and find the truth about ourselves and our God; to do what we have to do well.
JUSTICE – to act justly, to love tenderly, and to walk humbly with your God.

Pastoral Care

At Loreto College Coorparoo, students are at the heart of all we do. We are committed to cultivating resilience, confidence and self-determination by creating an environment where each student in known and valued. We know that the emphasis on a holistic education will ensure that students achieve success in all aspects of their lives

The partnered focus on academic learning and wellbeing is crucial – as without one, the other will not happen. We provide a breadth of opportunities to enable students to explore their potential, including their leadership capacity. We acknowledge the importance of challenging and developing student voice and for us to provide the opportunities for students to enhance capabilities and raise awareness of social justice issues.

Students are challenged to have the courage to be themselves and our Personal Development Program encompasses tools and strategies to enable our students to flourish. The program aims to inform, support, connect and engage students as they develop through a targeted, proactive and sequential program of topical theoretical and practical units. The enhancement of student connection, engagement and school belonging fosters self-esteem, self-identity, and relationship formation to improve outcomes.

Given the recent global challenges, we continue to focus on attitude. Students have been engaged in activities that have encouraged them to be optimistic about their learning and future with a growth mindset. We are equipping students with skills and strategies to persevere, knowing that setbacks make them stronger and develop resilience. We ensure our students show courage when faced with challenges and are not afraid to take risks or fail.
