At Canberra Christian School we provide a safe and happy environment for your child to learn within a supportive community. We are a co-educational school offering schooling for students from Pre-k to Year 6.
Our enthusiastic, highly professional teaching team focus on nurturing the strengths of our students. We offer an excellent pre-kindergarten program catering for 4 year olds, as well as the convenience of stimulating and secure after school care facility just next door. Our teachers work together with parents to bring continuity between school and home, and are committed to keeping you informed and listening to your concerns.
Canberra Christian School staff recognise the individuality of a child’s learning needs and offers a program designed to maximise their potential in all areas of learning. Children are placed on levels of work based on achievement outcomes rather than chronological age resulting in satisfaction and challenge being an integral part of the child’s learning program. Children at an early age see themselves as individuals in their learning and are usually willing to be placed at appropriate levels for themselves rather than being concerned about their peers. The overall result is children feeling positive about their achievements in the academic areas.
The foundation of our approach to educating your child is our secure and nurturing school environment. We create this environment through appreciation for individual needs, respect for the children in our care and support for their values and opinions.
Through this approach we will help your child to reach their full potential whilst developing self-esteem and an appreciation for the needs of others.
Our enviable student-teacher ratios allow our teachers to get to know your child as an individual. Our team combines the enthusiasm of youth with dedication and experience to provide a well-rounded and targeted approach to teaching your child.
Because of our school size each teacher is able to monitor each child and get to know their personality, growth and development needs. They interact with the children in the playground and the teachers have already established good relationships with children who move into their grade in subsequent years.
Canberra Christian School currently have positions available for children aged 2-4 in the Early Learning Center. In October 2014 our new Early Learning Centre (ELC) opened the doors for children aged 2 and 3 years to join our school campus. We welcome all inquiries and have a Waiting List Application for children aged two, three and four.
The ELC is staffed by qualified Early Childhood teachers with assistants as per government regulations. Children at the ELC experience the wider community at the school and participate in whole school events such as concert nights.
The ELC operates 5 days per week, 8:00am to 6:00pm, with two weeks holiday during the Christmas period. The fees are charged at a daily rate for each day the child is booked to attend. The fees include all meals (morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and later afternoon tea), language and music. Parents also have access to the Child Care Benefit (CCB) as the ELC is registered.
At Canberra Christian School our Christian faith is central to the educational experience we offer our students. Christian values are woven into our curriculum to encourage students to build their own personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
