Our History
Established in 1957, Marian College has a rich history ingrained in the legacy of the Brigidine Sisters, who have been at the forefront of education and social justice in Australia for over a century. Founded in the spirit of St. Brigid of Kildare, we continue their mission, guided by the values of compassion, justice, and stewardship.
Learning and Education
The Middle Years 7, 8 and 9:
The Year 7 and 8 Program at Marian College supports the transition to secondary school and equips our students with key understandings, skills and capabilities, establishing the foundation for the years ahead. In Years 7 and 8 students study a broad range of core subjects, covering all Learning Areas and integrating the General Capabilities of the Victorian Curriculum..
At Year 9, there is an integrated approach within the curriculum program and more opportunities for experiential learning, authentically linking the classroom to the wider community and environment. Year 9 students are also able to select from a wide range of electives that provide a springboard for their senior years program.
The Senior Years 10, 11, 12:
Year 10 is the first year of our senior years program with a diversity of electives on offer and the option for students to build Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) and Vocational Education and Training (VET) Units into their Year 10 Program. As an alternative to the standard Year 10 Program, students may choose the Applied Learning Program where they can complete Foundation VCAL Units, whilst still participating some core and elective Year 10 subjects.
Year 11 and 12 students pursuing a VCE Pathway choose from a diverse selection of VCE and VCE VET subjects. Our VCAL Program is tailored to meet the goals and need of each student enrolled in that pathway.
Co-Curricular
Marian College aims to provide students with far more than a standard academic curriculum.
Through a wide range of co-curricular opportunities students are encouraged to engage with diverse learning experiences and to support one another in their pursuits of excellence.
Our co-curricular activities in the Performing Arts provide students with opportunities to express their performance abilities in activities including choirs, bands and ensembles.
Our College sporting competitions on offer are: Badminton, Netball, Soccer, Indoor Cricket, Tennis and Basketball.
And students have the opportunity to join various clubs and to participate in competitions and challenges held across the year. Some of these clubs include: Social Justice, Science Club, Bike Club, Garden Club, Anime Club, Book Club.
