Established in 1978 Summerland Christian College is an independent school situated in the scenic hills overlooking Goonellabah and Lismore.
We are committed to providing a supportive Christian environment from Pre-Kindy to Year 12, giving every child ‘a hope and a future’. We are the only school your child needs, building academic excellence within them throughout their schooling and partnering with you, as parents, to seek your child’s unique pathway for life.
Academic Excellence
Summerland is a school with proven academic success. We nurture and build academic excellence in our students from the very beginning, using evidence and research-based teaching principles to help them reach and exceed their academic potential.
We build our students’ digital literacy all the way through their schooling, producing competitive 21st century graduates. Through strong educational programs such as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) and EDGE Mathematics, and with dedicated teachers who draw on current data and use innovative approaches to learning, we are able to help students achieve outstanding academic results.

We are committed to discovering a unique pathway for each student, supporting them with a carefully designed curriculum and personalised goals. This individualised approach allows teachers to tailor the learning and sets students up with strategies to accomplish their lifelong goals.
Pre-Kindy to Year 12
TRINDY
Transition to Kindy (or Trindy) provides students and parents with a curriculum-based program taught from a Christian perspective. Early literacy and numeracy skills are explored through a variety of stimulating play-based learning activities.
Trindy prepares your child for the routines of school and provides a stress-free progression into regular schooling. This program helps to develop your child’s love of learning and is a key component for school readiness.
PRIMARY
Summerland recognises the importance of laying strong foundations for learning in its early primary years. We take this responsibility very seriously, developing an excellent academic program to set your child up for a successful schooling journey.
Targeted programs have been developed in our Primary School in reading, music tuition and learning enrichment, with the employment of specialist teachers for our transition to Secondary School program a recent revolution. These initiatives ensure that every child’s needs are properly met in their primary schooling but, beyond this, makes these important years engaging, fun and memorable.
SECONDARY
Summerland offers students a supportive Christian environment, whilst pursuing academic excellence and unique pathways for each individual.
Within this nurturing environment, our students are motivated to engage in their individual learning and personal development.
We know every child is unique and their education will never be ‘one size fits all’. Our staff take into account the individual interests and abilities of each student, providing personalised education, within a purpose built and structured environment.
Our students grow in confidence during their time at Summerland, building skills in critical thinking and problem- solving. Our hands on approach to education ensures resilient, agile thinkers, setting each student up to thrive in their future pathways.
Co-curricular activities
Summerland offers a vast range of co-curricular activities that support the students’ formal education.
Our students are provided opportunities in sport, music, the creative arts, living skills and missions to enrich their schooling experience.
Programs such as STEM, Book Explorers, Summerland Super Actions, evening events, lunch clubs and rewards rooms allow students to lead and serve within our school and in the broader community.
